What Is The Foundation?
The South Hamilton School District Foundation was formed in 1994 to contribute financial and personal support to the South Hamilton Schools. The Foundation will also serve as a means of involving the community of South Hamilton as a partner with the school board supporting educational programs and activities of the school.
The Foundation's purpose is to maintain, develop, increase, and extend the facilities and services of the South Hamilton Community School District and to provide broader educational service opportunities to its sudents, staff, faculty, and to the residents of the district.
How Does It Function?
The Foundation is a corporation chartered by the State of Iowa. It is governed by a board of directors who are appointed by the board of education. Each director is appointed to serve a three-year term (after the initial rotation). The Foundation board reviews and discusses scholarship program opportunities for students, administers bequests and donations that are made to the Foundation, and plans for future Foundation initiatives and projects.
What Are The Benefits?
In this day and age, everyone is concerned about taxes, and tax revenues are the primary source of school funds.
The Foundation enables the directors to solicit and receive tax-deductible donations/gifts. The Foundation also makes it legal for a donor to give a gift or donation without needing to establish a seperate trust account. Gifts may be given in form of cash, annuities, pooled income funnds, trusts, bequests in wills, or any other method approved by the board of directors.
The Foundation provides an avenue for patrons to support expanding programs of quality education and to enrich curriculum offerings, the arts, technology, extracurricular activities, and career opportunities for our youth. The Foundation will also manage and ensure that the funds will be used as intended.
Who Can Be A Member?
You can play a vital role in making the Foundation a success. To be productive, the Foundation needs both your contributions and personal support. The Foundation is ready to accept your tax-deductible contribution, and we invite you to participate in one way or another. Join now, and plan to support the Foundation.
